LEGO WeDo 2.0 Cheerful Fans
March 2018: While I was preparing a workshop based on LEGO Education products with Maureen Reilly (freelance LEGO Education consultant), she redesigned the LEGO WeDo Cheerful Fans, adapting it to be built out of the WeDo 2.0 set parts assortment. They feature the same functionality of the original model. Two cams, this time built out of LEGO round parts, drive the head rods, making them go up and down, while rotating. You can program the model to start moving when the WeDo distance sensor sees something, or change the motor speed as shown in the video.
My role in this project was merely to suggest how to make the cams (the new WeDo set misses the LEGO egg-shaped cams) and prepare high quality building instructions for all the teachers out there. You can download the building instructions for free by clicking the button below. Enjoy!
