LEGO WeDo 2.0 Ballerina

A ballerina (dancer) built with LEGO WeDo 2.0

On the tip of a cam

This ballerina (classic ballet dancer) is built with the parts from the LEGO WeDo 2.0 set #45300. The main purpose of the model is to show how the continuous rotational movement of the motor shaft can be trasformed in a up/down and right/left movement using a LEGO brick-built cam shaft. The lobes of the round plates engage alternatively the rubber tyre, creating a smooth dancing motion. It seems the ballerina is almost hover on tiptoe. Teachers can use this LEGO WeDo 2.0 project as an inspiration to introduce their students to motion transformation and cammed mechanisms.
